As standard we offer a wide range of Composite and uPVC doors, but that’s not all, if you would like a different variety of door, please get in touch, we’d be more than happy to help.

We often get asked ‘what are the differences between a composite door and a uPVC door?’

Composite doors are the most advanced type of door commonly used in homes today. Unlike uPVC doors, which are made largely of plastic, composite doors are made from a number of materials that are combined under high pressure conditions. This type of door was specifically developed to solve common issues that are often found in traditional uPVC doors.

There are benefits and negatives to both styles and variety of door, we go into more detail below to hopefully demystify your choice.

Composite doors

For most people the composite door is the best choice for them, they are the most secure, energy efficient and long lasting.

Benefits:

Composite doors are well known for their security and energy efficiency

As standard composite doors are rated A and A+ for efficiency

Exceptionally low maintenance

Enhanced security features over other doors

Available in a realistic Timber look, that’s durable and secure

Long lasting and proven to be more durable than uPVC

Available in a huge range of varieties, colours and appearances

Negatives:

The only negative of a composite door is they they tend to be more expensive than uPCV

uPVC Doors

Although many people choose composite doors we have a large customer base that choose uPVC, this is mainly because they are extremely cost effective.

Benefits:

Available in a range of styles

Significant cost saving compared to some styles of door

Offer a cost effective upgrade and curbside appeal

Increased security and energy efficiency compared to older doors

Negatives:

Not as durable as composite doors

Thermal efficiency is significantly less than composite doors

Lifespan of the door is less than a composite door

Not all front doors are the same size

We can offer a wide range of door frames to fit the exact specification of each property, meaning we have the individuality of your home covered. Purchasing a standard sized frame when your frame is not a standard size will leave you with an insecure door, with unsightly and costly gaps. This can also lead to serious issues if not dealt with. By choosing Severn Windows we will support and help you determine what you need to achieve the look and best fit for your property.

If you have any questions about the styles and variety of doors we have to offer, or if you don’t see the style of door you are looking for, please get in touch today, our friendly team is on hand to answer your call.
